Yes. Acupuncture is very safe in pregnancy. Properly trained acupuncturists & herbalists know what acupuncture points and herbs to avoid in pregnancy. In my program we spent one year on Women’s health from a Western medicine and Chinese medicine perspective. Our board exams ask specific questions regarding herb and acupuncture use in pregnancy.
In Europe 4% – 13% of all mothers receive acupuncture during pregnancy. Acupuncture is very safe to have during pregnancy and is an effective option at a time when many women choose to avoid taking medicine for minor ailments.
